Patient Transport Policy Information Effective July 9th 2012
Copper River Native Association (“CRNA”) is pleased to announce a new Patient Transport Schedule. This schedule provides regular and reliable transport service to CRNA Health and Dental Facilities.
While we strive to provide reliable transport every day to Village Clinics, the Wrangell Mountain Dental Clinic, and Anchorage health facilities, there are situations where transport will not be available.
Transport will be denied for the following conditions:
- Recipient is under the influence or possesses alcohol or illegal drugs.
- Recipient behaves in an abusive manner or does not cooperate with driver instructions.
- Recipient is diagnosed with a contagious disease or infection.
- Recipient’s clothing is not appropriate for weather conditions.
- Temperature is –45 below zero Fahrenheit or colder.
All minors (under the age of 18 years of age) are required to have an escort accompany them on all CRNA transports. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Clients who are physically able are expected to be present at the established pick up location at the scheduled time. Transport recipients who live outside a village and are too far from pick up locations can arrange for pick up along the highway between pick up locations, but are expected to wait on the side of the road for pick up. Elders and beneficiaries with special requirements will always be picked up door to door. Transport Drivers will wait no more than 5 minutes at any location. It is the recipient’s responsibility to be at the designated pick up point on time.
CRNA Patient Transport Drivers are instructed NOT to drive transport recipients anywhere other than health related services!
Elders will be picked up at, and returned to their door. Occasionally, if an extra driver is available, we will transport Elders to their appointments separately to minimize their travel and waiting times.
Transport recipients who live outside a village and are too far from pick up locations can arrange for pick up along the highway between pick up locations, but are expected to wait on the side of the road for pick up.
ANCHORAGE/WASILLA TRANSPORTS – For these transports, we will pick up recipients at their door. Long distance transports are limited to TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, and THURSDAY ONLY, and appointment times MUST be scheduled between 11:00am and 3:00pm. Should you schedule an appointment at a day or time outside of these parameters, you will be responsible for your own travel without compensation.
BHS GROUP TRANSPORTS – The schedule is designed to support group activities, which begin at 3:00pm Monday- Thursday, and 1:00pm Friday. Clients attending group should review the schedule and realize they will be transported according to the scheduled run. Note that arrival to CRNA is at 2:00pm. There will be waiting time at CRNA before group. After the final group session, transport is schedule to depart CRNA at 6:00pm.
ELDER LUNCH PROGRAM – No changes are planned for this program.

“Local Transportation requests are required to be submitted to the Patient Services Coordinator’s office one (1) business day (24 hours) prior to time of appointment before 3:00 p.m.
Anchorage transportation requests are required to be submitted two (2) business days (48 hours) prior to the time of appointment before 3:00 p.m.”
