Charlene Nollner

Position: President
Categories: Elections 2022, Elections 2024

I am Charlene Nollner, my parents are the late Nelson John and Virgina Gene. My grandparents are Buster and Alice Gene and Fred Sr. and Katie John.

Thank you for the nomination and supporting me for the past several years. When I first got on the board in 2006, CRNA only had health aide providers and our offices was in an old ATCO building. In 2011/2012 CRNA hired the first family nurse practitioner and with the board working together, we now operate our own primary care in our new building.

There has been tremendous growth at CRNA with many programs we didn’t have just seven years ago. A wellness department was created which consists of a physical therapist, massage therapist and chiropractor. Another exciting program is the youth and child development program. The boards intent of this program was to not only provide childcare but also intervene in our children’s lives earlier. I’m excited to see the fruition of this program in our future.

There are many exciting plans for the future at CRNA. But the most I am excited about is the construction of Building A, the Ahtna Immersion School and planning for the river frontage property. I believe with unity we have a great future ahead of us. Sometimes it is easy to focus on our differences—the lines that divide us. But let us remember that our strength lies in our ability to bridge those gaps, to find common ground, and to build bridges of understanding.

When we come together, we create a force that can move mountains, overcome challenges, and shape a better future for the next generation. Our actions today ripple through time, affecting our children, grandchildren, and beyond. I hope to serve you well and remember you can always contact me with any issues. I will do my best to find answers or put you in contact with someone who will.

Edward GreyBear

Position: Secretary / Treasurer
Categories: Elections 2024

Hello everyone, my name is Edward GreyBear and I have been a member of the Copper Valley for the past 23 years. To start off I would like to thank everyone for signing my nomination petition for this election. Growing up in Copper Center has been a blessing from all the experiences I had throughout my life.

I grew up in a single parent household, where my mom, the late Ava GreyBear had brought me up in the traditional Ahtna Athabascan way and taught me about subsistence. I have always held an interest in how I can give back to the community that helped raise me. I currently serve on several boards, I am the President of the Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 31, Board Member of R.O.A.R (Recycling Our Areas Resources), Council Member of The Native Village of Kluti-Kaah, and I also serve as an alternate for the Wrangell St. Elias SRC. Throughout my career I have worked various positions whether it was a Laborer working on the Pipeline, a Park Ranger for the Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve, an Independent Research Consultant where I worked with the University of Minnesota on a soil study, and I am currently the Customary and Traditional Coordinator for Ahtna Incorporated.

After High School, I realized I wanted to further my education which led me to attend The University of Alaska Fairbanks to study Environmental Science and although I have not completed that degree, I am going to head back and finish online later this year. My goal to be on the CVTC board is to bring my vast collection of technological insight and community awareness to better the co-op and make sure the people are represented properly going into the future. Thank you for all your support. Tsin’aen. (thank you)
